Our Wedding

Let's be real here - the dogs are largely responsible for us being together. Hence, the wolf (Wiska)-hound (Blix) wedding. Over the last few years, we crossed paths multiple times as professional acquaintances and, in early 2025, began going for weekly dog walks, mostly on the Legacy Trail in Truckee. That very first dog walk left an impression on both of us. We found each other easy to talk to, easy to laugh with, and easy to trust. Over the course of multiple deep conversations on dog walks, we learned we had much in common (including a refreshing sense of humor) and felt safe talking with each other about vulnerabilities, including life's challenges, hopes, and dreams. We realized that what we wanted in partnership, what we offered, our values, and life goals are closely aligned. Dog walks blurred into dinners and more time spent together, and each time we parted ways, we wanted more. We committed. We knew. We covered a lot of ground in a short time. The love, learning, and devotion between us continues to grow each day. (Not to mention the very funny, cute, close relationship the dogs have developed!) We are so happy to celebrate our love story with you all!

Our Story

Photos

Wiska is our wild, wonderful she-wolf companion. Free-spirited, playful, self-governed, and fiercely loving, she's been Kristi's bestie, teacher, adventure buddy, and family member for the last 8 years. She takes seriously her self-imposed role of being the watchdog and protector of the pack.

Blix is our loving, loyal companion and confidant. I adopted him over two years ago after recently losing my previous Swiss Hound. Blix was living a more traditional dog life prior to this significant change and there is all around agreement that he is so excited to be part of the continual Tahoe/Truckee adventurous days. Very quickly, he adapted to being a good crag dog, naviagting mountain terrain and swimming in the lakes. Blix has a wonderfully unique demeanor and is very affectionate.

Q + A

Traveling to the Lost Trail Lodge is ADVENTUROUS! The road is bumpy, so take it slow and enjoy the ride! From the gate, it takes about 20 min to drive to Parking A. You will need to drive slowly (5-10 MPH) in some sections. You *MUST* have a high-clearance vehicle to drive past Parking Location A. It is about a 12-minute walk down the rest of the road from this point. Local friends who are planning to camp, please carpool in high-clearance vehicles! Due to relatively limited parking at the Lodge, we suggest carpooling. There are 3 other parking spots within reasonable walking distance to the Lodge. Directions are mile marks from the Truckee Donner Lodge at 10527 Cold Stream Rd., Truckee, CA 96161. 1. From the TD Lodge drive south on Cold Steam Rd. At 0.4 miles stay left onto a dirt road (39.322660, -120.228498)2. At mile mark 0.5, drive through the open gate and proceed up a dirt road (39.317235, -120.229896)3. At mile mark 1.2, stay right and proceed up a dirt road (39.311672, -120.240638)4. At mile mark 3.4, this is parking lot A. You can walk across the railroad tracks and it is a 15 minute walk to the lodge. DO NOT DRIVE ACROSS RR TRACKS! Google maps is incorrect at this point. (39.294281, -120.271899). If driving further, proceed 1,000 ft. staying left of the railroad tracks. We will run a shuttle from this point.5. At mile mark 3.6 stay right and travel through the tunnel (moushole). The creek will be dry but a high clearance vehicle is needed (39.292144, -120.271034). After 100 feet turn right back onto a dirt road6. At mile mark 3.8, this is parking spot B and a 0.4 mile walk to the Lodge (39.293544, -120.272835). If continuing, make a hard left turn passing private cabins on the right. Please drive 5 mph and be respectful.7. Mile mark 4.2, arrive Lost Trail Lodge. We will have help navigating parking. We will have reflective markers at key turns along the way in. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you!!
